As indie musicians we need keep the music marketing machine well oiled with fresh ideas. We also need to keep our fingers on the pulse of what is going on in the world of music business in general. One of the best ways to do that is by listening to a crap-ton of music marketing podcasts.

Podcast are really handy when traveling to and from gigs. I always have a few in the cue (sing it… a few in the cue, a few in the cue… sorry, the songwriter in me couldn't resist).

CDBaby DIY Musicians Podcast

I've been listening to this one for 3-4 years now. They have some great guests and I always get a nugget or two out out of every episode.

Be sure to look through the archives and check out the interviews with Tom Jackson, Corey Smith and Jack Conte (Pomplemoose). Those are my favorites. I still throw them on once and awhile when I need a boost of motivation or belief.

Music Biz Weekly

Two guys by the name of Michael Brandvold and Brian Thompson sit down every week, press record and discuss the latest music industry/tech news, music marketing whatnot and mix in the occasional guest.

They are both good guys. Especially Brian. He shares Musicgoat content on his DIY Daily Newsletter.

You may also know Michael as the dude who started a KISS fan website and then was hired by KISS – as in Gene Simmons called him up one day, no joke – to run all their early web efforts.

Go check those out. I have a bunch more I can tell you about so just let me know if you

Let Us Know

That'll do it. If you have any podcasts you would like to recommend, let us know in the comments below so we can check them out. And, like I said above, I have a bunch more so be on the look out for other posts like this in the future.
